About Meg

After nearly a decade of constant changes and losses, I have found this is not an easy question to answer. However, no matter the latest loss or oldest heartache I am always, and always will be, Meg. The good and bad parts of life ebb and flow, bringing joy and sorrow. And although the trials we face here change us in ways we may never have planned for, my only recourse is to remind myself that I am still me. I am still Meg in every loss and gain. And I still have a God who loves me even when I feel too tired or broken to serve Him.

I’m a 33-year-old woman attempting to survive a life with chronic illness, many sudden deaths of friends and family, and the senseless murder of the one I loved most. I am a female who believes in the power of strong, nice-bossy women. I am pro-woman, from womb to grave. I believe in Jesus Christ as the one true Son of the one true God. I believe, but I ask questions. Many, many questions that don’t always end with a clear answer or any answer at all. I have felt the pain of a woman in slavery simply by looking into her eyes. I’ve helped deliver two babies in Nigeria, West Africa, squeezing the hands of their mothers, praising them for their strength, and helping one say goodbye to her newborn. I have loved deeply, but I have lost deeply, too. It’s here, on this platform, that I hope to share my story, my desires, my beliefs on ancient and current events, and the painful struggles I’ve held for myself and for many others. It is here I pray to learn how to hope when hope is too heavy.

-Always Meg

Beyond beliefs, I love dark Chocolate, Maker’s Mark, Sparkling (dry) Rose’, Charcuterie boards for supper, Dominican Style fried Plantains, music by Delta Rae, Patty Griffin, Lake Street Drive, Dixie Chicks, Jodee Messina, Sweettalker, Lena Horne, Etta James, Billy Holiday, and Nina Simone; songs with sad melodies but touching lyrics; black and white movies (The Philadelphia Story, Charade, Sabrina, Houseboat, The Tammy series, White Christmas, It’s A Wonderful Life, Bringing Up Baby, and more), horseback riding, snowglobes, bees, fairy gardens, the babes who call me Mom, Mum, Mama, Aunt or Auntie, and the sound of pure, unbridled laughter.
